Gionee M6 and M6 Plus will be launched in India post Diwali i.e. October 30. Responding to media queries on the sidelines of the Gionee S6s launch event, Gionee India CEO, and MD Arvind Vohra revealed that both M6 and M6 Plus will arrive in India during the Diwali season. With a special focus on battery life, the Gionee M6 comes with a 5000mAh battery. On the other hand, the M6 Plus is powered by a massive 6020mAh battery. Earlier, the arrival of both M6 and M6 Plus was announced in Beijing late July. According to the company, M6 is the world’s first fully-secured smartphone with a special encrypted chip. This new feature protects the valuable data on the device.
Gionee M6, shipped to few countries also features a fingerprint scanner, privacy protection in addition to malware destruction. In all probability, packages shipped to India will be equipped with a fingerprint scanner.
Gionee M6 Specifications
On the specifications front, the Gionee M6 features a 5.5-inch FHD AMOLED 2.5D glass display, MediaTek MT6755 processor, 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB of expandable internal storage. The rear camera offers 13MP Sony IMX 258 sensor, while the front-facing shooter comes with an 8MP camera. Designed using an aluminum unibody, the Gionee M6 is loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on top of Amigo 3.2 UI.
In China, the dual SIM smartphone ships in both 64GB and 127GB internal storage capacities. While the 64GB model is priced at 2699 Yuan (Rs. 27212), the 128GB variant is available at 2899 Yuan (Rs. 29229).
Gionee M6 Plus Specifications
Gionee M6 Plus features a large 6-inch Full HD display, a MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 processor, Mali-T860MP2 graphics, 4GB RAM coupled with both 64GB and 128GB internal storage capacities. Talking about the camera, the Gionee M6 Plus flaunts a 16MP rear camera sensor and an 8MP front-facing shooter. The 64GB variant of Gionee M6 plus is priced at 2999 Yuan (Rs. 30200), while the 128GB is available for 3199 Yuan (Rs. 32200).
Gionee to open Rs. 500 crore manufacturing facility in North India
Gionee has announced that it will pump Rs. 500 crore in India to establish a full capacity manufacturing unit in North India. The company is planning to open the plant within the next two years. Currently, the Chinese company has outsourced the manufacturing process via third-party players such as Foxconn and Dixon based in Tamil Nadu and Noida respectively.
Commenting on the development, Gionee India MD and CEO Arvind Vohra revealed that the company is in the process of getting around 50-acre of land in northern India. The plant will have an overall capacity to produce 30 million units. However, he declined to reveal the exact location of the plant.
