According to a statement issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the imposed restrictions on in-flight use of the newly launched Galaxy Note 7 purchased after September 15, 2016 with green battery icon, has been lifted. The DGCA has officially issued an advisory to the traveling public and airlines today.
Meanwhile, Samsung India has confirmed that there are no restrictions on the use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in aircraft in India.
New Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will have green indicator
As a customer, you will be able to identify the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with the green battery icon. If your handset displays this visual icon, then it is regarded as safe to charge and use during the night time.
Interestingly, Samsung has not yet sold a single unit of Galaxy Note 7 in India after the official launch. Hence, if you purchase the Galaxy Note 7 through a retail shop, you should verify the existence of green battery icon. The icon will apply to all Galaxy Note 7 handsets that will be sold to customers in India when it is launched.
DGCA banned Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on September 9
On September 9, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued orders which restrict passengers from holding Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in check-in bag gages. Moreover, the regulator asked all Note 7 owners not to switch the phone or charge in flight.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with white indicator is dangerous
If you purchased Samsung Galaxy Note 7 before September 15, you will view a white battery charge indicator. Samsung has already recalled all the handsets bearing this icon. This means you should not make any attempt to use them.
If you do so then you are at a huge risk of causing injuries to your own health. The phone with this indicator exploded several times all over the world and inflicted injuries to many customers. In the US, a jeep was destroyed completely as a result of Galaxy Note 7.
In a statement released to press, Samsung tendered an apology for the difficulties caused to customers, flyers and airline authorities. The company revealed that they are committed towards the safety of customers.
