Asus Zenwatch 3 images and feature leak shows Moto 360-like circular design

A few days ago, word got out that the Asus Zenwatch 3 will have a round dial, unlike any of its predecessors. And now the leaked images show exactly what it will look like. These images are not of the best quality. However, they do give us an idea about the smartwatch that will presumably run Android Wear similar to its predecessors Zenwatch and Zenwatch 2. We can see that the model shown in the pictures sports a dual-tone finish, in either black and gold or brown and gold. It’s tough to figure out because of the graininess of the images.

Asus Zenwatch 3 Design: Three buttons on right

The wearable has three buttons to its right. The functions of these buttons aren’t clear but traditionally they should help the user navigate through its menus. The straps seem to be interchangeable, though the standard size can not be ascertained.

The wearable’s charging cradle is also shown in the images, and it appears to be a magnetic ring that can simply be attached to the back of the watch. The Zenwatch 3 will receive a charge of 10W. According to the FCC documents released earlier this week, the watch is said to support Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11n. The back of the dial will be made out of standard stainless steel. As far as the release date is concerned, it will probably be unveiled at IFA in Berlin in early September.

The Chinese website that leaked the images was forced to take them down. We are assuming that this wouldn’t have happened unless it was real. However, it should be kept in mind that Asus is yet to reveal anything about the ZenWatch 3 in an official capacity, so it is likely for these details to be inaccurate. However, the biggest concern here appears to be that the device looks a little bulky.

Smartwatches are getting sleeker by the day, and there isn’t as much room in the market for devices that are so thick except the devices focussed on fitness. The ZenWatch 3 doesn’t appear to be of sports kind, so one can not ascertain much from the design. The launch seems to be imminent, and the wait for it’s arrival is just tiring. Up against the likes of Titan, this one is amongst the most awaited smartwatches. How accurate are the FCC filings, will only be revealed after an official statement or its launch. Stay tuned for more updates.
