Chinese analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the most reliable and respected source in the market for Apple (AAPL) leaks, working for KGI securities leaked new information and features about Apple’s future iPhone, supposed to release in 2017. Ming Chi Kuo has been leaking Apple designs and features since a long time and is a well known and respected individual for the same.
According to the leaked reports, the company plans on ditching the aluminum body shell, currently used for iPhone 6 and 6S completely. The company instead plans to opt for an all glass back for its future iPhones. This glass back can in turn bring wireless charging to the iPhones in the future.
According to the leak, Apple seems to be working on long distance wireless charging as well, which certainly seems a possibility after the introduction of an all glass back design.
The same redesigned iPhone will also have AMOLED displays, something which Apple’s consumers have been craving for long. The company also recently signed a $2.6 billion agreement with Samsung. This agreement would explain the AMOLED displays as Samsung actively uses the same displays in most of its products.
AMOLED displays have a low level of battery consumption which in turn means better battery management and incorporating always-on displays, something mandatory with high-end Samsung smartphones.
The new iPhone will supposedly launch after the iPhone 7 which is due this year, in 2017 the same time Apple’s $2.6 billion deal with Samsung is supposed to take effect.
As for the Apple iPhone 7, the phone is supposed to have a similar design to the iPhone 6 and 6S and bumped up specs. The company is also rumored to launch a 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Pro, that will feature a dual camera and other exclusive features, keeping true to its line of “Pro” products, that include the 12-inch and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.
