Apple iPhone 8 to accompany all-glass design alongside stainless steel frame

Apple iPhone 8, expected to release on September 8, 2017, will be most likely manufactured using all-glass design with stainless steel frame. Even though the rumored iPhone 8 passed through several speculations, the latest report can be trusted to some extent due to the credibility. Moreover, the Cupertino-based company is gearing up to celebrate the 10th anniversary of iPhone 2017 on a grand scale.

Based on the information sourced by Digitimes, the handset could flaunt an all-glass rear and front coupled with a stainless-steel frame. The latest rumor is in tune with the KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s report appeared in April 2016.

iPhone 8 to look similar to iPhone 4 design

In his report, Kuo had stated that the iPhone 8 would not make use of aluminium or plastic. If the latest report turns out to be true, you can expect iPhone 8 to look similar to that of the iPhone 4 design, which shipped with an all-glass body.

DigiTimes, meanwhile, adds that iPhone is expected to eliminate the conventional aluminium back cover design. Moreover, the upcoming smartphone will adopt a new design with two reinforced glass panels alongside a metal frame in the middle. The tech portal also confirms that the metal bezel will be manufactured using stainless steel using a unique manufacturing process. This will enhance the durability of the phone in addition to reducing costs and manufacturing time.

Interestingly, Apple will source the components required for the design of iPhone 8 from Foxconn and US-based Jabil. If you rewind back, you will know that these two companies had supplied stainless steel frames for the iPhone 4.

Till recently, Apple insisted on an aluminium casing for the manufacture of iPhone 6s and iPhone 7. Since the glossy Jet Black variant of the iPhone 7 sold like hotcakes despite the scratch warning, Apple is of the impression that people will accept an all-glass smartphone.

iPhone 8 manufacturing cost to be cheaper by 50 percent

Furthermore, Digitimes pointed out that the forging process employed by the steel frame would be 50 percent cheaper when compared to the currently used CNC machine process. In addition to that, the new technology would provide enhanced quality control. You can expect a great iPhone 8 because the bezels on the side will also be manufactured using steel.

Expected to be manufactured by Foxconn and Pegatron Technology, the rumored iPhone 8 would be manufactured using the spares sourced from Wistron as well. When it comes to the features, the iPhone 8 will be integrated with the Home button and Touch ID embedded into the display.
