Google recently released Android 7.0 Nougat. However, there was no fluid confirmation about the list of handsets which will be getting the update. According to latest reports, Google Nexus phones are getting the new update. However, there is no still OTA update for Nexus 5 2013, Nexus 7 2013 and other older handsets.
If you compare with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the rollout of an update for Android Nougat is pretty slow for Samsung, Sony, LG, Motorola, Xiaomi among others. According to industry analysts, the Android 7.0 Nougat will most likely hit major OEMs by the end of 2016 or early 2017.
Android 7.0 Nougat update for Moto
Motorola has pushed Android 7.0 Nougat update for Moto G4 and Moto G4 Play. If you already own any of these smartphones, you will be eligible to receive the update. Alternatively, you can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings | About Phone | System updates.
Android 7.0 Nougat update for Sony phones
Recently, Sony has revealed a list of handsets that will most likely receive Android Nougat update starting October. This includes the recently launched Xperia XZ, X Compact, and 2015’s Xperia Z5.
Android 7.0 Nougat update for Nexus phones
Users will get Android Nougat update similar to that of Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 9 LTE. In the upcoming days, you can expect the same kind of update for Nexus 6, Pixel C including Nexus Player.
Android 7.0 Nougat update for HTC and T-Mobile
In addition to Sony, HTC and T-Mobile also confirmed the names of handsets which will most likely receive a refresh of Android Nougat. This will occur before December 31.
According to sources, the HTC 10, HTC One M9 and HTC One A9 will get updates. The T-Mobile customers can rejoice since the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 5 will receive Android 7.0 Nougat updates followed by the entire series of Galaxy S6 phones.
In the meantime, Google will release Pixel and Pixel XL on October 4 with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-loaded by default.
