SHARP has announced that it will introduce the AQUOS S2 smartphone on August 8th at a global event in Beijing. The device comes with 5.5-inches bezel-less display with a screen-to-body ratio of 84.95%. The company is said to be using the FFD (Free Form Display) technology for small holes precisely on the screen for front camera and receiver. SHARP claims that the AQUOS S2 is the company’s 29th full-screen smartphone and is also the first handset to launch in China. The AQUOS S2 event will kick-start on August 8th starts at 2 PM China Time, so we should know the pricing and other details tomorrow.
Though there are leaks and rumors about the specifications of the SHARP AQUOS S2, nothing is officially from the company. According to benchmark listings, the device comes with a 5.5-inch (2048×1080 pixels) display, a 12-megapixel dual rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. It is powered by Snapdragon 630/660 with 4GB or 6GB RAM depending on the model and runs Android 7.1.1 (Nougat). Rumors have it that the device is expected to packs an under-glass fingerprint sensor.
