Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge to feature Snapdragon 835 SoC with octa-core CPU

The specifications of Snapdragon 835 tagged as MSM8998 have been confirmed. You can expect the integration the new processor in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8. Expected to be showcased at MWC 2017, the Snapdragon 835 specs was first leaked by Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin. However, the specifications of the forthcoming processor have been confirmed by both Qualcomm and Samsung.

If rumors are to be believed, the new Snapdragon 835 processor will be integrated with Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge. Even though there is no official confirmation, the leakage in the specifications reveals the fact that the new chipset will find its place in the Galaxy S8.

Snapdragon 835

The new Snapdragon 835 will bear the model number MSM8998. This is ahead of the currently available Snapdragon 821 processor, which has the model number MSM8996. Moreover, the upcoming processor will be equipped with an octa-core CPU instead of quad-core in Snapdragon 821.

Snapdragon 835 processor will offer UFS 2.1 technology

The main attraction of Snapdragon 835 processor is the addition of Adreno 540 graphics, UFS 2.1 technology. Furthermore, the new processor will be manufactured based on a 10nm FinFET process that was introduced 6 months back. Hence, you can expect 6GB RAM variant of Galaxy S8 in all markets.

Snapdragon 660 Processor specs revealed

In the leaked image, you can also spot the specifications of the new Snapdragon 660 Processor. It will be manufactured with Samsung 14nm FinFET LPP process, 2.2Ghz processor speed, Adreno 512 paired with UFS 2.1 technology. Expected to be available in Q2 2017, the Snapdragon 660 will find its place in the new smartphones manufactured by Oppo and Vivo in 2017.

As you can observe, the leaked render confirms the availability of Snapdragon 835 around Q1 2017 during MWC. Hence, we can almost confirm that the processor will be showcased at MWC 2016 along with Samsung Galaxy S8. However, you should accept the fact with a pinch of salt since there is no official information from the company.
