Samsung Galaxy Note series are killer gadgets designed for high end and tech savvy users. There are several variants of Note devices available in the market and all of them are expected to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the upcoming 4-5 months.

Samsung has not yet announced any plan to release Marshmallow software update for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 since the device is out-dated. However, vendors like Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint have released updates for Android 5.0 for their own branded Note 3 devices.

If you have Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge, you can expect to receive official Marshmallow update in February.

If you are a geek, then you can update Galaxy Note 4 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow via newly released CyanogenMod 13. It can be flashed either using custom recovery tool or via Google Apps after the installation of developer created blobs.

“Apart from the NFC, fingerprint scanner, and battery drain issues, all the basic features are reportedly working fine with the CM13 ROM for Galaxy Note 4,” said Vinod Yalburgi, Reporter, International Business Times. Yalburgi has also posted the steps required to upgrade to Marshmallow in his blog post.

If you have Galaxy Note 5, you need to wait longer since Samsung has not announced any timelines for the release of Marshmallow update.

However, we expect the Galaxy Tab manufacturer to release an update for Note 5 by the end of December although a leaked document displayed Note 5 along with the model number SM-N920G. The report showed the data on November 15 with the status labelled uploading.

The Marshmallow update for Samsung Note devices is expected to ship with Doze mode that enables you to activate a power saving mode that will automatically take over when the phone is in an idle state. Moreover, you will have more control over the way in which you deal with various apps. There are reports that Silent mode is expected to return with a bang.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to be released in UK and Europe in January 2016 with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with 2560×1440 display resolution. The device also promises a big battery life with a whopping 3,000mAh battery.
