Ola, a popular app-based cab rental company, has introduced Ola Lux, which offers luxury vehicles like Mercedes, BMW, and Jaguars. Ola added this new category to tap those people who would like to rent luxury cars for their travel needs. In addition to these automobile brands, Ola Lux also enables you to book luxury sedans like Audi, Toyota Fortuner, Honda Accord on-demand from within the Ola mobile app.
As of writing this, Ola Lux is only available in South Mumbai area. On the pricing front, the vehicles can be booked by paying Rs. 200 with Rs. 19 per/km. Like what you are paying currently for other vehicles, you will be required to pay a nominal ride time charge of Rs. 2 per minute.
Commenting on the launch, Raghuvesh Sarup, Head of Categories and Chief Marketing Officer at Ola revealed that ‘Ola Lux’ category provide unmatched style and support for business people and frequent weekend travelers. The vehicles provide great comfort, which is essential for long time travel.
Sarup clarified that the company is currently focussing on providing a superior in-cab experience by offering a wide range of choice to customers. He also disclosed that the vehicles listed under the Ola Lux category will provide a new experience to users who are bored with normal cabs. The Ola Lux category brings in all the existing features to the table like display of driver details, SOS buttons, Wi-Fi, live tracking and integration of Ola Money.
Even though Ola has launched the Lux category, it will not be feasible in Tier-II or Tier-III cities because of less demand. However, if the company formulates an aggressive plan, then it will be worth. The company is planning to launch Ola Lux category in Delhi and Bangalore in the upcoming months.
Earlier Uber also launched Uber BLACK, but the company has to wind up the service due to lack of demand. The company stated that people prefer to use cost-effective mode for short trips. However, this service is still available in South Mumbai. Meanwhile, the success of Ola Lux in South Mumbai is vital for the company to enable them to expand the service to other areas.
