Maruti Suzuki recalls 75000+ Baleno and Swift DZire over Airbag and Filter issues

Maruti Suzuki Baleno

One of India’s largest car manufacturers Maruti Suzuki has recalled 75,419 units of its Baleno cars (both petrol and diesel models) and 1,961 units of Swift DZire diesel (only AGS variant). These cars manufactured between August 3, 2015 and May 17, 2016 will be upgraded with airbag controller software, and along with that inspection and replacement of faulty fuel filter will be done. These include 17,231 cars allotted for export.

The company said in a filing, “Maruti Suzuki India will voluntarily recall 75,419 Baleno cars (petrol and diesel), manufactured between August 3, 2015 and May 17, 2016 to upgrade the airbag controller software. Of these, 15,995 Baleno cars (only diesel), manufactured between August 3, 2015 and March 22, 2016, will also be attended to for inspection and replacement of a faulty fuel filter.”

The Japanese automobile and motorcycle manufacturer says that the same is being done considering the safety of its customers. This is not the first time Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall for its cars. Earlier this month, the company recalled 20,427 of its S-Cross for a faulty brake part. Another recall was issued in the same year of Ciaz (3,796 units) to replace a part of the faulty clutch operation system.

Maruti has said that customers who wish to check if their vehicle is covered can do so by visiting the official website of Maruti for the Swift DZire, and the Nexa website for Baleno. The customers need to fill in the details on the website like chassis number to get the information. The company has assured that they would not charge customers any money for the replacement of faulty fuel filter as well as the software upgrade.
