Maruti Suzuki Baleno crossed over 1 lakh bookings, to compete with Hyundai i20

Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Maruti Suzuki is riding high on the success of its latest offering Baleno that has reportedly crossed more than 1 lakh bookings in just four months. The record-breaking bookings have given a positive boost to the sales of the automaker, and the achievement is noteworthy as it came after the company revised the prices following the Union Budget.

The premium hatchback was introduced by Maruti Suzuki in October 2015 with a price range of Rs 4.9 lakh to Rs 8.11 lakh ex-showroom price, Delhi. The revisions have witnessed the price increase between Rs 5,000 to Rs 12,000 in January 2016, but this has not affected the bookings.

The vehicle is now priced at Rs 5.15 lakh for the base petrol model, and the base diesel model is priced Rs 6.33 lakh. The high-class diesel variant now commands Rs 8.32 lakh, ex-showroom price.

In spite of the fact that Baleno has witnessed amazing bookings, the sales are is yet to get steady. In the wake of severe competition with its main adversary Hyundai i20’s deals in December 2015, Maruti’s hatchback has been trailing behind in the last two months.

By the close of January, Maruti Suzuki had confirmed over 70,000 bookings, and the one lakh landmark has made the vehicle of the top successful cars from the company.

The Baleno is produced in India and Maruti Suzuki is mulling trading the hatchback to more than 100 nations. The auto is fueled by a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol motor tuned to create 83bhp and 115Nm of torque while the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel plant produces a torque of 74bhp and 190Nm.

Both the petrol and diesel engines are attached to a five-speed manual transmission, and the petrol motor is also accessible with a CVT programmed gearbox.

Baleno has been ranked second among the top successful vehicles in India followed by Hyundai i20 that has taken over the market with a storm.

Competing with i20 is not going to be easy, but the direct bookings are a sign of the return of Maruti Suzuki brand in India that has gone down due to Hyundai that is the current hot seller in the country.
