Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that it will launch its e-Verito in India on June 2, 2016. The e-Verito is an electric variant of Mahindra’s Verito model and will be India’s first all-electric sedan.
The e-Verito first appeared at the 2014 Auto-Expo and is being made available to buyers in India two years later. The e-Verito is a 100% emission-free car and is said to sport a distance of 100km on a full charge. The car will be available to purchase in three variants: D2, D4, and D6.
The e-Verito comes along with a three-phase 72V electric engine that can manage a top speed of 85km/hour when the battery is fully charged. The lithium battery takes about 8 hours to charge completely, but Mahindra offers a quick-charge option with the D6 variant, pushing charging cycles down to a mere one and half hours.
The front of the e-Verito will sport disc brakes while the back will come along with drum brakes. The car will sport tubeless tyres with a wheelbase of 2,630mm along with 10-spoke alloy wheels and roof rails.
Exterior:
On the outside, the e-Verito looks very much like the Verito sedan apart from a few minor but noticeable changes. The electric variant sports a redesigned radiator grille as well as refreshed fog lights and headlights and doesn’t have the same sloping roof as the original Verito. High-end variants of the e-Verito also come with neatly crafted rear-view mirrors.
Interior:
The insides of the electric variant of Verito sedan will look very different. From an overhaul of the seat’s upholstery to the installation of a world-class music system with support for aux-in, Bluetooth as well as USB connectivity, the interiors will seem refreshed entirely. Mahindra has also asked fans to look out for the upcoming new and powerful air-conditioning system that the electric variant will come along.
Mahindra will announce the e-Verito in India at a price of approximately Rs. 8 lakh for the entry-level model.
