Lenovo has launched the much-awaited Lenovo Z2 Plus smartphone in India in two variants starting at Rs. 17,999. The 3GB RAM model ships with 32GB default internal storage and the 4GB model bear 64GB storage. According to sources, Lenovo has crafted new elements only available on premium smartphones at an affordable price point. Even though Lenovo claims that Z2 series smartphones are for the tech-savvy audience, the phone will be suitable for all users who prefer a compact form factor.
Design and Display
Lenovo Z2 Plus takes advantage of a boxy design coupled with a new fiberglass for the manufacture of the handset. During the launch, Lenovo revealed that fiberglass makes the phone not only lighter but also sturdier. Moreover, the phone fits well and can be easily carried in one hand without slipping like other competing smartphones. Lenovo has designed the handset with metal assembly for infusing the internal components. You will find that the rear surface is refreshed with glass.
Talking about the display, Lenovo Z2 Plus features a 5-inch FHD display. Lenovo really wins here because other premium handsets like Redmi3S Prime only offers HD display with the same display. However, it remains to be seen how the fonts will look like because of the small display area and high resolution. The viewing angles are excellent even though the ambient lightning is dull.
On the right side, you will find the power and volume control buttons. The bottom houses the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port for charging and CNC drilled speaker grills.
Performance
Lenovo Z2 Plus features Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 graphics powered by a 3500mAh battery. According to tech analysts, Lenovo Z2 Plus is the cheapest handset to ship with Snapdragon 820 chipset, which also offers faster LTE modem.
Moreover, the presence of Adreno 530 graphics enables you to improve graphics performance. You have a choice of either 3GB RAM/32GB storage or 4GB RAM/64GB storage. The smartphone provides the capability to run animations and other resource hungry games without any lags. With a 3500mAh battery, you will be able to get one full day of backup upon normal usage.
Camera
Lenovo Z2 Plus comes with a 13MP ISOCELL rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and support for 4K video recording, timelapse in FHD and slow motion video in HD resolution. The handset also offers an 8MP front-facing snapper. You will be able to capture pictures in low light conditions because of the integration of a 1.34-micron image sensor.
Operating Platform
Lenovo Z2 Plus is loaded with stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow bundled with Lenovo apps like ShareIt and U Health app. The company has refreshed the UI with quick access buttons that can be easily accessed by swiping from the bottom. The health app enables you to tracks steps, calories burnt using the sensor hub of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. The handset also offers a pedometer to enable you to accurately track steps. Lenovo has added gesture support to the fingerprint scanner.
Conclusion
Lenovo Z2 Plus offers improved functionality for a small price when compared to competing devices like OnePlus 3. You will be able to experience enhanced performance with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor paired with support for VoLTE. Moreover, you will also be able to take advantage of a large battery. The addition of FHD panel in a 5-inch display is a beauty. The phone will be a serious competitor to premium flagships like Xiaomi Mi 5 and OnePlus 3.
