iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: Things to know before buying the new Apple iPhones

The most anticipated smartphone of the year, the iPhone 7 has been launched and it has taken quite the bite at least with its viewership. The features are often put under strict observation when it comes to the iPhones, given the heavy price tags (starting from $649). Let’s take a look at things to consider before buying the device.

No more 3.5mm Headphone jack:

Steve Wozniak had warned users that the company might get rid of the audio jack and use only the lightning port even for audio purposes. Although there are a couple of alternatives, the first one being that the box packs a lightning port to 3.5mm jack converter. This, however, does not remove the worry of not being able to use the earphones while charging and vice-versa. So, the second add-on is the all expensive $157 AirPods, that are essentially the same as Samsung’s Icon X or any other Bluetooth calling earphones (they come in a pair).

Stereo Speakers on top and bottom:

The speakers on all the ‘i’ devices have been a matter of negative talk, but it appears that things are going to change with this one. The second speaker ensures a stereo sound experience. They are supposed to be twice as loud as any of the previous ones.

Dust and Water Resistant:

That’s right, another leaf from the likes of Samsung. The IP67 standard technology that means dropping it on a wet floor for a couple of seconds will not do any harm. Great! One can afford to be a little less careful. It is unclear whether Apple has used its patented ‘Liquid Resistant Acoustic Device’ technology to achieve this feat, but it is not something new in the market.

Excellent Camera:

There is no denying the fact that the Apple smartphones and tablets have the most superior camera, regardless of what the spec sheets suggest. The back camera is 12MP (Dual in iPhone 7 Plus) and the “FaceTime” camera is 7MP. Ability to take animated pictures and superior quality images are topped with the OIS. Of course, the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual lens (wide angle lens and telephoto lens).

Ideally, the spec-sheet makes not difference to the Apple products lovers, mostly owing to its great performance even with the humble spec-sheet, but as expected the tweaks and bigger changes this time around are quite intriguing.
