Intex Aqua Fish 4G with Sailfish OS available at eBay India: Price and specs

Intex has launched an economy range smartphone with the Sailfish OS. The device is exclusively available at eBay India with a price tag of Rs. 5,499. It will soon be available at other e-sellers also.

The Intex Aqua Fish boasts a 5-inch TFT HD screen with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The gadget is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and is complemented by 2GB DDR3 RAM. The device has an 8MP primary camera with LED flash. It also has a 2MP secondary camera for selfies and video chatting. The gadget weighs 150 gms and is based on the Sailfish OS platform. The device is powered by a 2500 mAh nonremovable battery.

The Intex Aqua Fish has 16GB internal memory, and it can be augmented to 32GB with the provision of a microSD slot. Connectivity options include 4G LTE along with all the other basic connectivity options which include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G and has FM Radio capabilities. The handset has Sensors which include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor.

The Intex Aqua Fish is available in black and orange color versions. The device comes pre-loaded with applications like Android app store, Tutorial, Notes, Snapdeal, Jolla Store, Mail, and Calendar. It is a dual SIM (GSM +GSM) smartphone and accepts two regular SIM’s.

The star feature of the smartphone is its Sailfish OS which is a Linux-based operating system with a unique user interface. It supports gesture navigation and also Android and Sailfish applications.

It may be recalled that Intex had partnered Jolla and it was announced at MWC Shangai last year. Jolla had launched Sailfish 2.0 at MWC Barcelona. The latest OS can run most Android apps and supports software integration. The Aqua Fish opens up an entirely new experience of running the Android apps in a new environment.

Intex is an OEM manufacturer and started by making computer peripherals but has not diversified and made Smartphone and handsets. Its recent diversification drive saw it launching TV’s and smartwatches.

Jolla also sells its handsets and in 2015 announced it partnership with Intex to make devices based on its Sailfish OS platform. The device is the first having the Sailfish OS. More devices are in the pipeline which will be featuring the new OS platform. Oyster SF, which is a Russian manufactured handset, is going to be launched shortly. Another security focused device; Turing Phone is also going to be shipped soon to consumers who have pre-booked the device.
