HTC 10 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: Which high-end smartphone you should buy?

HTC 10 is a flagship device with all-metal unibody and BoomSound Hi-Fi edition speakers. Samsung also released their premium Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices with plenty of new features. In this article, we will highlight the features and specifications of HTC 10 with Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

While HTC 10 is equipped with a 5.2-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) Super LCD 5 Corning Gorilla protected curve edge display, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display with same resolution as HTC 10. As you can see, the specs are almost the same except the fact that the display size is small in HTC 10.

HTC 10 features a 64-bit Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 graphics, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage (expandable up to 2TB) in addition to support for flex storage. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge includes Exynos 8890 octa-core processor with the same 4GB RAM and 32GB storage but you can expand only up to 200GB.

While the main camera in HTC 10 offers 12MP powerful sensor with HTC UltraPixel 2 technology, f/1.8 aperture with support for laser autofocus, OIS, self-timer, face detection, auto-HDR, panorama among others, the device is equipped with a 5MP front-facing snapper with f/1.8 aperture with OIS. In case of Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, you have a 12MP rear camera with LED flash coupled with a 5MP front-facing snapper.

On the power front, the HTC 10 bears a 3000mAh battery, which delivers a talk time of up to 27 hours. The device also includes Quick Charge 3.0 functionality with cool charge. You will be able to charge up to 50 percent in 30 minutes. However, the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge flaunts a 3600mAh with fast and wireless charging functionality.

Operating Platform

Both HTC 10 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge features Android 6 Marshmallow. However, you will be able to play with HTC Sense user interface in HTC 10.

The expected price of HTC 10 in India is said to be Rs. 52990, while Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is available at Rs. 56990. You can also consider a lower price Samsung Galaxy S7, which offers the same 5.2-inch display as HTC 10.

Core Features

HTC 10 offers a metal glass sophisticated dual-textured finish with a bold new chamfered contour. The speakers are placed in special ports to deliver accurate sound quality in any harsh environment. The device is capable of withstanding up to 60-degree heat. HTC also integrated their own flagship BoomSound Hi-Fi edition speakers, which is capable of delivering excellent sound quality paired with a dedicated amplifier.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is mainly oriented for photo lovers since the device comes with several features oriented for capturing great images with Dual Pixel technology.

If you are in the market to buy a high-end smartphone with a budget of Rs. 50,000, you need to wait till HTC 10 is available in India. This is because HTC integrates premium technology in both camera and sound segments but you have to satisfy with the small display size.

We feel HTC 10 will sell well if the device is equipped with a 5.5-inch display because people do all sort of things from reading e-book, web browsing etc. Hence, a smartphone with bigger display always helps.
