Google Pixel C tablet with Android 6.0 Marshmallow now available in US for $499

Google Pixel C tablet

Google has released Pixel C tablet powered with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is available from the official Google online store. According to sources, it is the first tablet designed and manufactured entirely by Google without any third party partnership.

Pixel C was originally announced around September end at the time of the launch of Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones.

The Google Pixel C tablet features a 10.2-inch LTPS LCD In-cell touchscreen display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1800 pixels. It has a pixel density of 308 ppi with 500 nits brightness. The Nvidia Tegra X1 chipset is well supported with a powerful Maxwell GPU, 3GB RAM, 8MP rear camera and a 2MP secondary camera.

Pixel C tablet also includes a USB Type-C port and a decent battery capacity of 34.2 Wh. We checked the official specifications and noticed that the tablet has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 which is adequate for basic requirements.

The first point that we usually verify while inspecting the specifications is the weight. Pixel C measures 517 grams that we feel is heavy for a 10-inch device. You will find it difficult to hold the tablet in one hand and work with it. That’s why Google provides an optional magnetic Bluetooth keyboard.

However, the external magnetic keyboard is available for $149, which we feel is very expensive. In fact, Google should bundle a keyboard with the package.

You can also make use of other accessories such as Chromecast, OnHub and Nest Cam, which can be ordered from the official store.

Pixel C tablet is designed using anodized aluminium and is available in only silver color. The package includes the tablet, 15W USB Type-C charger and quick start guide.

Google Pixel C tablet will be a hit only if it is available at a competitive rate with an external keyboard. Otherwise, there are so many alternatives in store to beat this new device.

The Pixel C tablet is now available on the Google Store, price starting at $499.
