Google Go App, Files Go and Oreo Go all set to revamp Android phones

Google Go comes as good news for low-end handset users to provide a unified Google experience on the internet. Using this app lets you access Google services like search, Voice Search, GIFs, Translate, Maps and so on. It also includes the default search bar to provide the same experience as the high-end models. Google go also comes with search trends as well as top stories on various topics around the web. Google Go was launched by the company in its Google for India event on Tuesday. Along with Google Go, the Android Oreo (Go Edition) and Files Go were announced as well.

As described by Shashidhar Thakur, VP engineering, Google, at the event, “We gathered feedback from hundreds of Indian cities to make the power of Internet access for new users through Google Go.”

Android O Go

Not just Google services, the latest Go app also provides its users, access to Facebook, CricBuzz and Instagram as well. It also includes a button that can help users translate their queries with the use of just one tap. The total file size of this is less than 5MB. Google Go has been designed to use less than 40 percent of your data while being optimized for devices housing less than 1GB RAM. This app shall be available for download on Tuesday. The future Android Go devices shall have Google Go preinstalled on them.

For the smartphones housing a RAM of 1GB or less than 1GB, Google has introduced the Oreo Go version of the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. It shall be available for the low-end smartphone users within next few months. The manufacturers of smartphones have been provided with the code for same. Devices running on this new update shall have about fifteen percent faster startup time as compared to the non-users. The pre-loaded apps that come with this update shall occupy 50 percent less space than they did previously. Google also commented that a device with Oreo Go shall be able to take another 1000 pictures with these new changes.

Oreo Go shall be optimized with the same security-related features as available on the original version of the same which includes Google Play Protect. The Oreo Go featuring devices shall have a default Data Saver feature. The users can safely download any app but a special section has been dedicated to numerous apps that are designed for these devices to occupy less space. Apps like Google Assistant, Gmail, Chrome, Maps and many others shall come preloaded with Oreo Go update.

The Files Go shall also come preinstalled along with the Go edition devices. This app was designed to help free up space on the phone, locate files faster and easily share files in offline mode with phones located in the same vicinity. The app also pings the user to delete heavy files and files from sources that consume unnecessary space on your phone. You can easily delete your unwanted files with two taps in this app. With Files Go, you can also create a closed network that will allow only approved smartphone users to share files by creating a hotspot in the same vicinity. The company claims, it is 200 times faster than any Bluetooth transfer. A specialized version of Google Assistant was also announced for Jio Phone which is the first ever AI-based feature phone.
