Ford Mustang GT with V8 engine now available in India at Rs. 65 lakh

Ford has officially launched Mustang GT in India and at the time of writing this, the iconic Mustang is currently available for purchase. The muscle car was showcased earlier at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo following a formal unveiling back in January.

It’s been over 50 years when the original was launched back in 1964. Since then, Ford has sold more than 9 million Mustangs across the globe.

The company has confirmed that the top of the line GT variant will be available for driving enthusiasts in the country. The Mustang GT gets a V8 engine that churns out 401PS of power and 515NM of torque. To ensure that maximum power is churned out, the V8 gets larger exhaust valves, reverse intake and exhaust camshafts among a slew of other features. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

The Mustang’s design certainly needs no introduction even after 50 years. The sixth-generation Mustang is a fusion of retro and modern while retaining the same classic DNA of the original. The cabin, the steering wheel, the instrument panel along with AC vents remind you of the original car. It also comes equipped with modern safety car features such as cruise control, blind spot detection, LED headlamps, launch control along with dual-zone climate control system.

There’s also this cool ‘Electronic Line-Lock’ feature. According to Ford, this keeps front brakes locked during acceleration to warm the rear tires for an enhanced grip to pull off a clean burnout.

As far as pricing goes, the Mustang GT has been priced at Rs. 65 lakh. It can be pitted against the likes of other German coupes which include the Audi TT and the BMW Z4. And who know’s, the launch of Mustang could irk Chevrolet to get Camaro onto Indian shores. Now that would be a real muscle car showdown.
