Brainwavz HM2 over-the-ear headphones Review: Real steal on a budget

Brainwavz HM2

Brainwavz launched the HM2 over-the-ear headphones in India early this year at an affordable price of Rs. 2,999. These are the third headphones in HM series while the other two being HM3 on-ear and HM5 Studio Monitor headsets.

The Brainwavz HM2 headset has a sturdy look and feel and comes in only one color option – Black, which looks somewhat gray with the matte finish. The headphones come packed in a black zipper hard shell case, which allows you to slip the headphones in your bag without the worry of it getting damaged.

Box Content:

1. Hard shell case

2. Headphones

3. Two set of cables

The hard case has two compartments, one for the headphones and the other for the two set of cables that come along with the headphones. One of them is a flat cable, and the other one is the regular cable with inline mic and volume control.

The HM2 over-the-ear headset is made of plastic, but as we told you the headset has a solid built. It can be adjusted over the head and comes in a foldable design that makes it really compact. The earcups are soft leatherette memory foam that sits comfortably over your ears. Unfortunately, the company is not providing an extra set of earcups with the HM2 headset.

Coming on to the performance part, the Brainwavz HM2 over-the-ear headset is a delight for music lovers and that too at a budget price. The headphones give pretty good sound with the earcups providing complete coverage. The sound quality of the headphones is crisp and clear, and it won’t feel distorted even at the highest volume.

The headphones is a great pick for someone who loves bass. For a week, I heard varied types of music alongside watching movies, and my experience with these headphones was pretty good. The bass doesn’t overpower the vocals, and the highs and lows were quite clear. Movie watching experience was also good on this headset.

On the comfort factor, the headset did not satisfy me much. Though lightweight and compact, the detachable cord was a little discomforting while tilting my head to the left. Also, I wish there was a cushioning at the inside of the headband for a little extra comfort (can’t really complain at this price range).

The headphones are a real value for money with a premium look and feel. If you have a budget of Rs. 4,000 – 5,000, go for Brainwavz HM2 over-the-ear headphones and save your hard earned money.

Pros:

  • Portable and light weight
  • Comfortable on ears
  • Nice sound quality
  • Come with hard carry case

Cons:

  • Detachable wire bit discomforting

Verdict

Brainwavz HM2 over-the-ear headset is one of the best headphones available in the market. The device is light-weight, foldable and comes with a hard case that makes it extremely portable. The sound quality is clear with nice bass.

The detachable cord is the only drawback of the headphones, but considering the price tag of Rs. 2,999, it can be overlooked. If you are planning to buy a new headset right now and that too at a reasonable price, consider the Brainwavz HM2 over-the-ear headset.
