The launch of Reliance Jio has led to other service providers such as Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Aircel, etc. to announce rate cuts on their 4G tariff plans. Airtel is now offering 10GB data at Rs. 259 for the new 4G smartphone users. The 1 GB data will be immediately credited to the customer’s account, and the additional 9GB data can be collected through MyAirtel app.
New 4G enabled smartphone buyers will be eligible for 10 GB 4G/3G data on a recharge of Rs. 259. The data will be valid for 28 days. Users can recharge a maximum of 3 times within 90 days to avail the offer.
Announcing the scheme Ajai Puri, Director – Market Operations, Bharti Airtel, said that Airtel had pioneered the 4G revolution in India and the present proposal is for the data-savvy consumers who will get high-speed data with their 4G compatible new devices.
The Airtel special offer was introduced in three states last week- Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The offer has now been extended all over the nation and for any 4G compatible device. Airtel 4G services are now available in 18 circles in India and in those circles where there are no Airtel 4G services, the offer will be available for 3G services.
The tariff war is getting keener among the telecom service providers with the entry of the Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio is offering free 4G data only until 31 December and beyond that its services will be available for a price. In all probability, Reliance Jio is offering its 4G services at a rate of Rs. 50 per GB of data.
Airtel announced its 4G data pack which provides ‘free data for 90 days’ to its customers. Prepaid package is available at Rs. 1,495 for existing users and the plan breaks down to Rs. 500 per month for 10 GB data which is exactly equal to what Reliance Jio is offering at Rs. 50 per GB of data.
