Asus launches Apple Watch copied ZenWatch 2 Android Wear smartwatch

Taiwanese manufacturer Asus has announced its ZenWatch 2 today at Computex 2015 in Taipei. Powered by Android Wear, ZenWatch 2 has better hardware and design than its predecessor to attract Android fans worldwide. ZenWatch 2 is a quick update to the offering of last year’s ZenWatch.

ZenWatch 2 has a better design than its predecessor and offers improved user experience. ZenWatch 2 comes with a magnetic based charger that can offer faster charging.  Asus is offering more options in terms of design and straps that the previous version of its smartwatch.

ZenWatch 2 will likely be powered by a Qualcomm SoC. The watch has a 2.5″ AMOLED display, which is protected by a Gorilla Glass 3. The new Smartwatch has a crown that would offer an instant display of notifications.

The watch is dustproof and waterproof with a rating of IP67, which is an improvement to the earlier ZenWatch at IP50. The new smartwatch is more rugged and can be used by joggers and sports person without fear of damage due to moisture or dust.

ZenWatch 2 will likely be made available in two sizes 49 x 41mm and 45 x 37 mm targeted at both men and women respectively. The former version has a 22 mm strap while the later has an 18mm strap. The 22 mm version also has a chargeback battery case at the back.

Both the models will possibly be available in silver, rose gold and gunmetal finish. The options for straps for the smartwatch are in rubber, leather and metal. Asus is offering 18 different types of straps for the watch. There would be a limited edition with leather strap and Swarovski Crystals embedded into it.

ZenWatch 2 has a next generation wellness and fitness app to provide a comprehensive health and wellness solution. It will come with an improved Remote Camera feature. This new feature offered faster performance, more zoom and added range for the camera.

This new smartwatch is comparable to latest Apple Watch and LG watch. The exact dates for launch and the prices of the watch are yet to be known. Asus has launched a teaser video for their new watch.
