Apple iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus go official with wireless AirPods: Price and Features

It’s finally here; the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Apple just unveiled the next-gen iPhone 7 series, which we all have been waiting for so long. The latest addition to the smartphone lineup, however, doesn’t offer much in terms of design but offers enhanced camera specs, RAM and storage capacity. As the rumors had it, there is no Pro variant of iPhone 7, and you will only see a 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and its bigger sibling 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus.

Meanwhile, Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Series 2 at the event in San Francisco. The company claims that the next generation smartwatch is designed from the scratch and is waterproof.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Design: Force Touch Home Button

The first thing you will witness as you see the new iPhone 7 is the design language. The Home button of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at the front now includes Force Touch functionality. That means the home button won’t press now and will include 3D touch capacity to peek into anything.

Apple has done away with the 3.5mm headphone jack and next-gen iPhones will come bundled with a lightning cable to 3.5mm jack converter.

True to the speculations, both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus runs on the Apple’s new A10 Fusion processor with four-core CPU. The A10 Fusion ensures smooth functioning and better battery efficiency. It has got new GPU, which is 60% faster than its predecessor.

The iPhone 7 Plus has 5.5-inch Retina HD display, while the regular iPhone features a Retina HD display of 4.7-inch. Apple has addressed the battery issue and has housed a bigger battery in iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which the company says is the highest in any iPhone.

As speculated, there is no 16GB version in both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The base model of iPhone 7 starts with 32GB model and goes up to 256GB. Customers can also go for 128GB storage capacity in both the variants.

The camera specifications have also seen an increase in the iPhone 7 series. Additionally, two 12MP megapixel cameras sit at the back of iPhone 7 Plus for better image quality and with depth of field capability; one of them is a telephoto lens. The dual camera setup with is only in the bigger sibling; the smaller iPhone 7 has just single camera of 12MP. The front camera of both the phones is 7 megapixels.

Other Features

Other vital features of the iPhone 7 series are the Stereo speakers at the top and bottom of the smartphone. Another breakthrough from Apple is the wireless AirPods. The AirPods work 5 hours on a single charge. Besides this, the iPhone 7 series is water and dust resistant.

Apple-designed accessories have been announced at the event, which includes leather and silicone cases, and iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case. The leather and silicone cases come in a range of color options, while the iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case will be available in black and white at Apple online store in the US. Besides cases, Lightning Docks are available in metallic finishes.

The iPhone 7 and the Plus version will go on sale in the US from September 16­. Buyers can pre-order the same from September 9. The iPhone 7 series will be available in five different color options – Gold, Silver, and Rose Gold, Jet Black, and Matte Black Finish. The smartphone will soon hit other countries as well.
