Mahindra-TUV300

New Delhi – Mahindra & Mahindra plans to launch its new compact SUV TUV300 in mid-September to compete with other car majors in this segment. The new compact Sports Utility Vehicle comes right after the company unveiled face-lifts of its flagship SUV model XUV500.

As per the report, the new TUV300 SUV is going to be a compact version of company’s consistent seller vehicle ‘Bolero.’ Mahindra will continue to offer both models in the market soon.

The new compact model is expected to give a strong competition to Fiat Avventura, Hyundai 120 Active and Toyota Etios Cross, which are priced in between Rs 6.23 lakh to Rs 8.9 lakh. Earlier codenamed as ‘U301’, the TUV300 will be a sub-4 meter vehicle.

In order to provide with the first look of the compact SUV, Mahindra had launched an official Microsite for the TUV300, which shows the first teaser video of the touch utility vehicle. The teaser shows that the design has been a stirred from a battle tank, and it based on a loyal SUV design. Moreover, the Italian entity Pininfarina has significantly contributed in designing the SUV.

During the launch of the SUV, Mahindra claimed that the new TUV300 will not be a replacement of Bolero. The company stated that the model was developed at its Mahindra Research Valley based in Chennai.

Additionally, TUV300 will be manufactured at the Chakan plant, which also manufactures the XUV500.

Back in 2012, Mahindra launched a compact SUV known as Quanto. However, the sales lagged as model failed to impress the customers. The reason for the poor sales was a change in preferences and a considerable shift towards more compact SUVs, as evident by the huge success of Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.

Pawan Goenka, the Executive Director of M&M, said that in their ongoing automotive journey, they identified a need for a bold, masculine and tough SUV. The customer clinics have validates that the compact TUV300 excels on these parameters.
