Xiaomi Redmi 4 release date tipped: Low-end smartphone coming on August 25

A while back, news about a low-end device namely Xiaomi Redmi 4 surfaced online which leaked the vital specifications of the upcoming smartphone. Now, a fresh round of rumors have come up which states that the Redmi 4 is arriving later this month. The report came from the Chinese social networking website Weibo stating that Redmi 4 launch will take place on August 25.

Xaiomi has a reputation of launching affordable smartphones. A few days back, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer came up with Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime in India priced at Rs. 6,999 and 8,999, respectively.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Specs

Talking about the specifications of Redmi 4 leaked online, the smartphone is anticipated to sport metal unibody construction instead of the plastic, which will give a premium look to the device. The processor powering the device is expected to be 64-bit Snapdragon 625 SoC. The Adreno 506 GPU will handle the gaming performance.

The upcoming Redmi 4 will sport a 5-inch HD IPS display. The leaked image suggests a fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone. There is no information about the camera specs of the rumored device. The Xiaomi Redmi 4 shown in the image is seen to be sporting 2 GB of RAM combined with 16 GB of internal memory capacity. There should also be a version with 3 GB of RAM and double internal storage space, i.e. 32GB.

The forthcoming device will run on Android 6.0.1 out of the box with MIUI 8 layered on top of it. For now, there is no information about the pricing of the device, but we expect it to be under Rs. 10,000.

Xiaomi Redmi 3s and Redmi Pro specs and launch date

Another device to launch in India in August is Xiaomi Redmi 3S, which would launch in the country in two variants. The entry-level device will feature a 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 430 processor, 13MP rear camera paired with a 5MP front-facing snapper.

Running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with MIUI 7 on top, the smartphone will launch in two variants. The basic model will have 2GB RAM paired with 16GB of internal storage, while the premium variant, also called as Redmi 3S Pro will be equipped with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

Another set of report talks about the Mini version of Xiaomi Redmi Pro. The trimmed down version of the Redmi Pro will have a 5.2-inch Full HD OLED display with 2.5D curved glass. Snapdragon 652 processor is speculated to power the device with Adreno 510 GPU.
