Get ready, Trainers! The world of Pokémon GO is about to get a whole lot cuter and tougher with the arrival of a brand-new Pokémon. Niantic has announced that Tinkatink, the adorable yet surprisingly strong Fairy and Steel-type Pokémon from the Paldea region, will be making its debut in Pokémon GO as part of the Pokémon Horizons: The Series Celebration event! This exciting event kicks off on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. local time and will run until Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Prepare for a week filled with thrilling encounters, unique bonuses, and the chance to add this Gen 9 gem to your collection.
Tinkatink, known for its habit of crafting hammers from iron scraps, is not coming alone. Its evolutions, Tinkatuff and the mighty Tinkaton, will also be making their grand entrance into the game. This means Trainers will have the opportunity to catch, evolve, and power up this entire evolutionary line right from the get-go. Imagine the possibilities of adding a powerful Fairy and Steel-type to your battle teams!
How to Encounter Tinkatink and Its Evolutions
During the Pokémon Horizons: The Series Celebration, there will be several ways for Trainers to encounter Tinkatink and potentially evolve it into Tinkatuff and Tinkaton:
- Hatching from Eggs: Keep those Incubators ready! Tinkatink will be hatching from 7 km Eggs during the event. After the celebration concludes, it will still be possible to hatch Tinkatink from 10 km Eggs, giving everyone a chance to find this sought-after Pokémon.
- Wild Encounters: While not explicitly stated to appear frequently in the wild, keep your eyes peeled! You never know when this industrious little Pokémon might make an appearance.
- Timed Research: For dedicated Trainers, a free Timed Research will be available, offering encounters with event-themed Pokémon, including the chance to meet Tinkatink. Remember, Timed Research has an expiration date, so be sure to complete the tasks and claim your rewards before Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
- Paid Timed Research: For those looking for even more rewards, a paid Timed Research will be available for US$4.99 (or the equivalent in your local currency). Completing this research will grant you an Incubator, an event-themed avatar pose, and, most importantly, more encounters with Tinkatink! You can even gift this Timed Research to your Pokémon GO friends who have reached a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher. Do note that these purchases are non-refundable and cannot be made with PokéCoins.
- Raids: While Tinkatink itself won’t be appearing in raids, you might need to battle hard to evolve it.
More to Look Forward To: Event Bonuses and Other Pokémon
The Pokémon Horizons: The Series Celebration isn’t just about Tinkatink. Trainers can also enjoy a variety of exciting bonuses and encounters with other Pokémon featured in the animated series:
- Increased Team GO Rocket Encounters: Be prepared for more frequent appearances of Team GO Rocket balloons. This is a perfect opportunity to challenge them and rescue Shadow Pokémon!
- Half Egg Hatch Distance: Placing Eggs in Incubators during the event will result in a significantly reduced hatch distance. This bonus will make it easier than ever to hatch those 7 km Eggs in search of Tinkatink!
- Increased Shiny Encounters: Keep an eye out for Shiny Pikachu wearing Cap’s hat and Shiny Floragato wearing a hat with Liko’s pin! The chances of encountering these special costumed Pokémon in their shiny forms will be increased during the event. Notably, any Pikachu wearing Cap’s hat caught during this time will know the Charged Attack Volt Tackle.
- Wild Encounters: Several other Pokémon that appear in Pokémon Horizons: The Series will have increased spawn rates in the wild, including Quagsire, Shuckle, Slugma, Nosepass, Snorunt, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Pawmi. Lucky Trainers might even encounter Pikachu wearing Cap’s hat!
- Raids: Take on various raids featuring Pokémon like Pikachu wearing Cap’s hat, Chansey, and Rockruff in One-Star Raids. Three-Star Raids will feature Charizard, Alolan Muk, Metagross, and Floragato wearing a hat with Liko’s pin.
- Field Research: Complete event-themed Field Research tasks to earn Stardust and encounters with Pikachu wearing Cap’s hat.
- Surprise Encounters: Don’t forget to take snapshots during the event! You might just have a surprise encounter with characters and Pokémon seen in Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
- PokéStop Showcases: Keep an eye out for PokéStop Showcases where you can enter event-themed Pokémon for a chance to win rewards.
- Pokémon GO Web Store Bundle: An exclusive Celebration Event Ultra Ticket Box will be available in the Pokémon GO Web Store for US$4.99. This bundle includes an event ticket and 10 Ultra Balls.
Tinkatink: The Hammer-Wielding Pokémon
Tinkatink is a small, pink Pokémon with a large head and a determined expression. It’s known for its incredible strength despite its size, often seen carrying a hammer it crafted itself from iron scraps. This Fairy and Steel-type Pokémon evolves into Tinkatuff starting at level 24, which then evolves into the formidable Tinkaton at level 38. Tinkaton is particularly known for wielding a massive hammer, capable of knocking away even Rock-type Pokémon with ease. This evolutionary line is a fan-favorite from the Paldea region, and its arrival in Pokémon GO is highly anticipated by Trainers worldwide.
