Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched special tariff voucher (STV) at Rs. 16 for 60MB data meant for prepaid users. According to sources, the new plan will have a validity period of one month and is launched to celebrate the 16th foundation year celebrations.
In a statement, the state-owned BSNL disclosed that the voucher will be valid from October 7 to 31. Moreover, the new low-cost data plan aimed to bring normal voice calling customers to the world of Internet. The plan will help to fulfill the ambitions of Digital India initiative.
Commenting on the launch of the new data voucher, BSNL Board director RK Mittal revealed that there is no comparison of BSNL data services with any other telecom operator. Meanwhile, BSNL chairman Anupam Shrivastava added that the company is closely monitoring the activities of Reliance Jio and will launch a new data plan for 2G and 3G customers in January 2017.
BSNL to expand its mobile broadband infrastructure
Meanwhile, BSNL is planning to expand its mobile broadband infrastructure by up to two-fold to 600 terabytes in a month. Shrivastava added that they have witnessed a spontaneous increase in the use of mobile data on their network.
He said that the company is planning to increase data network capacity to deliver high-speed 3G. In South zone, BSNL is planning to double the capacity to 600TB. However, for other zones, it will be 450TB by the end of November. After the establishment of Reliance Jio, mobile operators like Airtel and BSNL are aggressively pushing their products onto the market by introducing attractive vouchers and packages.
In September 2016, BSNL had launched BB249 plan, which enables you to access unlimited broadband for Rs. 249 at a speed of 2Mbps. However, the speed will be available only for the first 1GB of data.
After you fully consume allotted 2Mbps, the speed will be throttled to 1Mbps for the rest of the month. The BB249 plan also features unlimited free calls between 9 PM to 7 AM on all Sundays to any mobile network in India.
