AXON 7

ZTE announced yet another smartphone, Axon 7 alongside its newest VR headset called ‘ZTE VR’. The Axon 7 is expected to be made available in the USA and China beginning next month, but the company didn’t share an exact timeframe for the phone’s release in India.

The Axon 7, released a part of ZTE’s flagship, will come in two variants – one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and the other with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The former will be made available for a price of Rs. 36,172 while the latter will cost Rs. 42,765.

Both variants of the Axon 7 come along with a 5.5” AMOLED display screen, run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and house a 3,250mAh battery. The rear of the phone comes equipped with a 20MP sapphire lens and Samsung’s Isocell sensor that comes along with OIS, PDAF and EIS. The front face of the device bears an 8MP lens for video calls.

The device also comes along with a fingerprint scanner at the back, support for QuickCharge 3.0 so you can charge your battery to 50% in 30 minutes as well as a USB Type-C port. The phone will be shipped with Android’s Marshmallow and will also support the use of Android N and hence Google’s DayDream VR; when it is released publically.

Although the company has announced ZTE VR, no specific information is available about the headset. From the images, the headset looks to be a mount where the Axon 7 can be placed, comes with a few buttons as well as a touch control pad and a 9-axis gyroscope to enhance motion tracking. No information on the availability of the ZTE VR headset or its pricing has been disclosed yet.
