Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro with Notched display and Quad cameras launched in Indonesia

The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has further expanded its portfolio with the launch of the Redmi Note 5 Pro successor i.e. the Redmi Note 6 Pro, today, in Indonesia.

The smartphone was launched earlier in Thailand, after which we were expecting it to land in China but surprisingly, the company decided to unveil it first in Indonesia. Though not major, it brings in certain incremental upgrades over its predecessor which includes a Notched display, dual selfie shooters, and more.

As far as the specs are concerned, the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a larger 6.26″ IPS display with a Full-HD+ resolution of 2280×1080 pixels in an 19:9 aspect ratio, and a notch on top aiding the screen-to-body ratio of 86%.

Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, the same chipset from Note 5 Pro, coupled with Adreno 509 GPU, 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of onboard storage which can be expanded further up to 128GB via a microSD card.

In the optics department, the Redmi Note 6 Pro bears a dual camera setup at the rear, featuring a 12-megapixel primary sensor with 1.4μm pixel size, Dual PD focus, paired with a secondary 5-megapixel sensor having 1.4-micron pixels, and AI portrait 2.0, followed by a dual-tone dual-LED flash. For selfies, the handset gets yet another pair of dual shooters at the front, comprising a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera setup further incorporates 4-in-1 super pixel (pixel binning for better low-light images) and an AI-based Face Unlock feature.

On the software front, it runs on MIUI 10 out of the box and is backed by a large 4000mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-4G VoLTE, Infrared, Bluetooth v5, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz + 5GHz), GPS + GLONASS and MicroUSB.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has been priced at IDR 28,99,000 (roughly Rs. 14,500) for the base model with 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version while the high-end version with 4GB RAM with 64GB storage costs IDR 32,99,000 (roughly Rs. 16,500) as of the Indonesian market. It’s available in Black, Red, Blue & Rose Gold color options and is expected to launch in India by the end of this month. Stay tuned.
