Swipe Telecom has launched a new smartphone ‘Junior’, targeted at children in India. The company has announced that this phone comes with parental control features and is specially made for children between the age of 5 to 15. According to the Tweet by the company, the phone will be made available through various e-commerce website with a price tag of Rs. 5,999.

The main highlights of the Swipe Junior smartphone include a custom UI, specially made for kids with features like geo-tracking and geo-fencing included in to make tracking the child’s movement easier.

The parents also get app control over their child’s phone, they can easily block an app or limit the app usage. Another notable feature is the SOS button, which with just a touch can call a pre-defined number. The handset also comes with a shock and break protective casing.

Talking of the specs, the ‘Swipe Junior’ features a 4.5-inch IPS display. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM. It comes with 4GB internal storage and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box and supports a single sim and 3G network.

In the camera department, it features a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera. The whole device is backed by a 1,900 mAh battery that the company claims can deliver up to 8 hours of talk time and 120 hours of standby time.

Priced at Rs. 5,999, the smartphone is currently available to buy on Amazon India, Snapdeal and Flipkart. Flipkart is offering the device at Rs. 1,000 discounted priced i.e. Rs. 4,999.
