Free Hi-Speed WiFi services launched at Srinagar International Airport

Tourists can now access hi-speed free 4G Internet services at Shrinagar international Airport for the first 15 minutes, thanks to BSNL. Available free of cost for the first 15 minutes, the service was inaugurated by Asgar H Samoon, who is the Divisional Commissioner for the Kashmir region.

Announcing the launch of the service, Mohammad Salim Beg, General Manager, Kashmir said BSNL is planning to extend the free Wi-Fi service to other areas to enable customers to work on the go through high-speed Internet service via WiFi hotspots.

To use the free Wi-Fi service, passengers will have to log in using a personalized password after turning on WiFi services on their laptop or smartphones.

The one-time password can be created by selecting the registration link on the displayed BSNL-WiFi prompt when the passenger logins initially. The system will perform the required backend verification and after that passengers will be able to browse the web for the first 15 minutes.

Speaking at the launch event, Samoon requested BSNL officials to offer similar W-Fi facility at hospitals, bus stands in addition to other public places which will benefit not only local people but also tourists visiting the valley.

Meanwhile, BSNL officials during the launch confirmed that the company is planning to launch free WiFi hotspot facility at about 100 places across the country including Lal Chowk, Press Enclave, SKIMS and Boulevard Road along the banks of Dal Lake by the end of June.

The free WiFi service was recently introduced in Mumbai railway station in association with Google with the addition of the service in more stations are in the pipeline.

Moreover, BSNL had launched free WiFi service in Hyderabad’s Hussain Sagar Lake, Udupi’s Malpe beach and more recently in Thiruvananthapuram secretariat to benefit people visiting the complex.
