Italian bike manufacturer Ducati has finally launched its XDiavel power cruiser in India. The bike will be available in two trims – the XDiavel and XDiavel S priced at Rs. 15.87 lakh and Rs. 18.47 lakh respectively (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
According to the company, the XDiavel represents the merging of the cruiser world, with relaxed riding blended with Italian style, engineering, and performance. The series is Ducati’s modern version of cruiser motorcycles, which will reportedly be brought in the country as CBU units from its plant in Thailand. The bike made its international debut at 2015 EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
“Cruisers are the largest segment in the luxury motorcycle category in India. We wanted to enter this segment with a product that revolutionizes the cruiser concept. The XDiavel achieves that with its perfect blend of futuristic styling, state-of-the-art technology and an engine that has been meticulously designed to the very last detail,” said Ravi Avalur, managing director of Ducati India.
Ducati XDiavel and XDiavel S Specifications
Under the hood, the XDiavel S is powered by the new Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 V-twin engine that belts out 156hp of power and 129Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. The company says that XDiavel reaches high torque even at low revs, which essentially ensures fluid and optimum power delivery. The drivetrain is mated to a six-speed gearbox, and for the first time on a Ducati – a belt type final transmission. The company claims that the system offers reliable performance coupled with reduced maintenance and optimum power delivery that bikers want from a cruiser.
Besides, it features a ride-by-wire system which enables three riding modes – Sport, Touring, and Urban. The company has also equipped the cruiser with a single sided arm and belt drive that essentially gives more power to the bike’s rear wheels. Other features include Ducati Traction Control, cornering ABS, and the innovative Ducati Power Launch, which further ensures high-end performance and safety. In terms of dimensions, the bike has a wheelbase of 1615mm and weighs 220 kgs.
The XDiavel S is the premium variant of the two and comes loaded with features such as a 3.5-inch TFT color display, Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), along with Bosch cornering and cruise control. Besides, the bike also gets a launch control system called Ducati Power Launch (DPL).
