Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications, features, availability and release date details

Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be released by the end of January with ultrasonic fingerprint scanner technology, pressure sensitive touchscreen and a physical home button in addition to enhanced design modifications such as slim bezel.

However, there are few sources which claim that Xiaomi Mi 5 will only include a standard sensor. There are also unconfirmed reports that Xiaomi is expected to ditch Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor for MediaTek’s Helio X20 processor.

You can expect the launch of MIUI 8 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a 5.2 inch Quad HD IPS display which boasts a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. The device will be available in both 16GB and 64GB variants with 4GB RAM.

However, if reports are to be believed, there will be 5.7-inch display variant to Mi5 in the near future. We hope that this will be a big boost for those users who are used to Redmi Note 4G which has 5.5-inch display.

Xiaomi Mi 5 is most likely to ship with a slim bezel. Weibo displayed the leaked images but we are unable to ascertain that they are of Mi 5.

It is also expected that the device will include Synaptics ClearForce touch technology instead of Qualcomm.

We are surprised by the inclusion of a physical home button which is not yet implemented in any of the Xiaomi’s devices. We have seen such buttons in old Samsung smartphones.

Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to ship with a 16MP primary camera which will have an ability to capture images upto 5312 x 2988 pixels. The camera will have features such as autofocus, optical image stabilization and dual-LED flash.

Mi 5 will most likely ship with a 6 MP secondary camera and Type-C 1.0 reversible connector.

There are unconfirmed reports emerging that the device will have a non-expandable memory card slot, which is bit disappointing.

Moreover, Mi 5 will have less than 3030 mAh non-removable battery and a surprise headphone on the package. We feel that the battery capacity is less for a phone of this kind.

The device will have an ability to charge 60% in 30 minutes with the help of quick charge 2. Moreover, you can also expect an active noise cancellation with dedicated microphone.

You can expect to see more leaks and rumours about the specifications and features of Mi 5 till the device is officially available on the market.

Xiaomi Mi 5 is most likely to be available exclusively via Flipkart as a flash sale by the end of January.

Xiaomi is planning to release only White colour of the phone which sounds disappointing. There should be some choice for users based on individual preferences. We hope Xiaomi will release the phone in Grey and Red colour to attract buyers.
