Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the GT 63 “APXGP Edition,” a limited-run model celebrating the upcoming Formula 1-themed film starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. Limited to just 52 units globally, this special edition pays homage to the fictional APXGP team featured in the movie.
A Tribute to Cinematic Racing
The “APXGP Edition” draws design cues from the film’s fictional racing team. Its matte black exterior is accented with Race Gold details, including 21-inch forged wheels and trim elements. The car also features a carbon fiber aero kit and AMG’s Night Package II, adding black chrome finishes to various exterior components.
Performance Meets Exclusivity
Under the hood, the GT 63 APXGP Edition houses a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain enables a 0-62 mph sprint in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 196 mph. The car comes equipped with AMG’s Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system, active roll stabilization, and rear-axle steering for enhanced handling.
Interior Details
Inside, the cabin features black Nappa leather upholstery with gold contrast stitching. Carbon fiber trim with gold accents adorns the dashboard and center console. Additional touches include illuminated AMG sill plates and a Burmester 3D surround sound system. Each unit also comes with a numbered plaque denoting its exclusivity.
Collaboration with the Film Industry
Mercedes-AMG collaborated closely with the film’s production team, providing vehicles and technical expertise for scenes shot during actual Grand Prix weekends. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, is set to release on June 27, 2025.
Availability and Pricing
While pricing details have not been officially announced, the GT 63 APXGP Edition is expected to command a premium over the standard model. Given its limited production run, availability will be extremely restricted.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition” stands as a testament to the fusion of cinematic storytelling and automotive engineering. With only 52 units available globally, this model not only celebrates the upcoming ‘F1’ movie but also offers enthusiasts a unique piece of Mercedes-AMG’s legacy. Its distinctive design, combined with high-performance capabilities, ensures it will be a coveted collector’s item for years to come.
