Huawei Mate 9 is all set to be unveiled at an event on November 3. Now a new set of leaked renders of the upcoming phablet has surfaced on the web, which suggests the device will get two versions.
The latest set of leaked images comes from none other than credible tipster Evan Blass. Interestingly, the phablet will be available in two versions according to images posted by Evan Blass, one having a regular display while the other gets a curved display similar to Samsung’s edge devices. The flat screen variant is codenamed Manhattan, while the curved screen variant is codenamed Long Island.
The curved screen variant of the device will have more powerful specs than its flat screen counterpart, with a Quad HD display along with support for Google’s Daydream VR platform. Notably, reports suggest that Huawei Mate 9’s curved variant will only be available in China, while its flat screen version is expected to see a global release.
Huawei Mate 9 Specifications
In terms of specifications, the Huawei Mate 9 is expected to get a 5.9-inch Full HD or QHD display, a 64-bit Kirin 960 octa-core processor bundled with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage. While on the back, we could see the same Leica-branded dual-camera setup found on the Huawei P9. Though unlike the Huawei P9 where both were 12MP lenses, the upcoming Huawei Mate 9’s dual-lens camera setup will have a 20MP resolution along with f/2.0 aperture.
In other related news, Huawei recently launched Honor 8, Honor 8 Smart and Holly 3 smartphones in India. The all-new Holly 3 is apparently the company’s first “Made in India” smartphone and is priced at Rs. 9,999. The Honor 8 gets a price tag of Rs. 29,999, while the Honor 8 Smart is available for Rs. 19999.
The highlight of the Honor 8 is its 12MP dual rear camera setup similar to that of iPhone 7 Plus. Other keys specs of the Honor 8 include a 5.2-inch FHD LTPS LCD display, HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor bundled with a Mali-T880 MP4 graphics and 4GB RAM. The handset runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box layered with Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 UI atop.
While key specifications of the Honor 8 Smart include a 5.2-inch FHD display, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and Kirin 650 processor, which is not as powerful as the Kirin 950 chipset. The India-made Honor Holly 3 features a Kirin 620 processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). The smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow on top of EMUI 4.1.
