Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar today launched Airtel Wi-Fi hotspots in Gurgaon to provide free internet connectivity to users in the city. The free service is currently available at four locations in the city which are: Sadar Bazar, Sector 29, Mehrauli-Gurgaon road and Sirhaul.
The service will be available to all users provided they have a Wi-Fi compatible device. There are plans to extend the free Wi-Fi service across four more locations in the city which includes Cyber City, Galleria Market, Sector 14 and Mahaveer Chowk near bus stand.
“We are very happy to partner with the Gurgaon administration and enable citizens in the Millennium City to experience world-class Internet services on the go,” said Airtel, Chief Executive Officer (NCR), Dhruv Bhagat.
How to Activate free Wi-Fi service
To activate the free Wi-Fi service, users will just have to enable Wi-Fi in their device ‘Settings’ and search for “MSG powered by Airtel”. Users will have a daily quota limit of 30 minutes per day per device, after which they can continue using the service for which they will be charged a nominal amount. Users on an Airtel connection will be charged via their data packs and can also connect to the Wi-Fi using the Airtel Hangout app. While non-Airtel users have the option to buy online vouchers.
Airtel has bagged the contract for a period of five years. During the contract period, the company will be responsible to supply, configure, setup and install Wi-Fi services and create a web-based portal to track user logins.
