There are tons and tons of smartphones available in the market, but only a few can get the hype and attention that everyone seeks for. The popular ones often overshadow a bunch of smartphones which deserve the spot. Be it due to poor marketing or lack of exposure; some are left untouched despite bringing good features to the table. Following the same, we are here with our list of some of the most underrated smartphones of 2018.

LG G7 ThinQ

Even with the latest hardware and features concerning price, LG smartphones have always been underrated. As you’d agree, the price of an LG smartphone drops substantially faster than its competitors. This practice hampers sales in the first place.

LG takes the lion’s share of the complete flagship smartphones out there. One such phone is the recently launched LG G7 ThinQ. Priced at Rs. 32,990, the LG G7 ThinQ is often overlooked due to the OnePlus 6T. Even when it offers the same Snapdragon 845 SoC, a much brighter and sharper 6.1-inch display with QuadHD+ resolution, dual 16MP (includes wide-angle) rear cameras with AI alongside and 8MP front camera.

Did we talk about true flagship features yet? Well, the LG G7 ThinQ packs in IP68 Water & Dust Resistance, Wireless Charging, Boombox Speaker with DTS:X 3D sound, and 32-Bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for the headphones (it retains 3.5mm jack as well). The competition fails to deliver such an impressive set of features, making up for a perfect media smartphone for media consumption.

Moreover, it is built on MIL-STD-810G military standards with Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, as well as rear. All of this is more than enough for robust protection against rough usage. Overall, its a steal for the price it retails for. Discounts during sales bring it as low as Rs. 29,999. Keep an eye on it.

Vivo NEX

The beautiful Vivo NEX too resides in the OnePlus 6T’s territory. Being one of the most innovative smartphones of this year, the NEX also ranks amongst one of the most underrated smartphones of 2018.

One of the unique features that make Vivo NEX stand out of the competition is its near to bezel-less display and pop-up camera. The front camera is hidden on the top frame and pops up automatically with the help of motorised sliders, whenever required. There are only two such smartphones to incorporate this tech into the mainstream market- Vivo NEX and the Oppo Find X.

Other notable highlights include a top-notch performance with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and 8GB RAM. Moreover, the handset gets a whopping 128GB storage and a massive 4,000mAh battery. All of this while retaining the headphone jack, sounds cool right? Check our Vivo NEX Review here.

Huawei P20 Pro

The Huawei P20 Pro – one of the amazingly crafted masterpieces by Huawei didn’t receive the attention the company worked for. Being the first smartphone in the world to bring triple rear cameras, the P20 Pro gets some of the coolest photography quirks which others don’t!

It has a 40MP primary shooter to shoot high-resolution images while the other two can help in achieving up to 3X optical zoom and 5X hybrid zoom which is insane.

The P20 Pro gets is power from Kirin 970 SoC, and is backed by a massive 4000mAh battery. Not to forget, it is one of the few phones to bear Notch as well as a front-facing fingerprint scanner at the same occurrence. You can check our detailed Huawei P20 Pro camera review here.

Vivo V11 Pro

At Rs. 25,990, Vivo V11 Pro is the cheapest smartphone in India to have an in-display fingerprint scanner. No, it’s not the only highlight of the handset. The other pillars behind this amazing phone include a great AMOLED display, fabulous design with water-drop notch and competent set of rear and front cameras.

The V11 Pro’s closest competitor, i.e. the Poco F1 overshadows it with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset at 20K while the former relies on Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC. Despite being capable enough, it is not as powerful as the flagship challenger.

Overall, if you have a budget of Rs. 25,000 for buying a smartphone, then don’t forget to consider Vivo V11 Pro besides Poco F1 and Asus Zenfone 5Z, based on your priorities.

Nokia 7 Plus

The Nokia 7 Plus is yet another underrated smartphone of 2018 which wasn’t received well in the market. Forged out of a block of series 6000 aluminium with copper accents, the Nokia 7 Plus has got an impressive build quality- just like a tank. It doesn’t specialize in any particular thing and acts as a jack of all trades instead.

In the market full of phones with notched displays, the Nokia 7 Plus is one significant exception that brings in a good performance with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, Zeiss-branded dual rear cameras, and a good quality display alongside the love of Stock Android One. All of this is backed by a sizeable 3,800mAh power cell. These features make Nokia 7 Plus a very well deserving and overall balanced smartphone, especially for elders and rough users.
