LG has finally taken the wraps off the G7 ThinQ and the more higher rated G7+ ThinQ at an event in New York, culminating the months of rumors and speculations we have had on both. Specifications are top notch to say the least though the other big USP with the two phones is their built-in AI capabilities and has a dedicated physical button for the same as well.
For a design perspective, both the G7 and G7+ ThinQ version incorporate a notched display. In fact, the two phones are basically the same except that the latter comes with higher rated memory and storage for better performance. Specifically, the G7 comes with 4 GB of RAM along with 64 GB of storage while the G7+ sports 6 gigs of memory along with 128 GB of storage. Both variants are powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled to the Adreno 630 GPU.
The other specification of the two G7 flagship variants include a 6.1-inch QHD 3120 × 1440 pixel FullVision display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, True-Tech revealed. LG said the display benefits Super Bright tech that enabled it to have a max brightness of 1000 nits. Battery capacity stands at 3,000mAh and is compliant with the Qualcomm QuickCharge 30 tech.
The highlights of the rear include a dual 16 MP camera having an aperture of f/1.6 and f/1.9 respectively. LG said there is AI at work here which will let the camera take the best possible shot depending on the object and its surroundings that the camera is focussed on. Plus, there is the Super Bright mode as well to allow you to capture clear images even in dimly lit conditions. Then there is the 8 MP front facing camera as well with a wide angle lens and f/1.9 aperture.
Mention must also be made of the Boombox Speaker that the G7 variants sports. That makes for an amazing audio quality that not only fills the entire room but offer 7.1 channel quality audio with the earphones. LG said the phone uses its inner space as a resonance chamber to produce superior quality sound, which gets enhanced when placed on a solid surface.
“When placed on a solid surface or box, the smartphone utilizes its resonance chamber as a woofer to amplify the bass effect even more,” LG said.
The phones support Super Far-Field Voice recognition technology that can pick up your voice even in noisy conditions or when you are farther away from the phone. This comes in handy when you need to communicate with the built-in smart AI assistant. This brings us the other unique aspect of the G7 duo, its AI capabilities.
As has been mentioned before, there is the dedicated AI button placed just below the volume rocker buttons. Tapping it once will launch Google Assistant while a double tap will launch Google Lens. You can also press and hold on to the button to talk to Google Assistant right away.
Other specs include a rear fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack, IP68 dust and water resistant, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Color options range from New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue, New Platinum Grey, and Raspberry Rose.
Both the G7 variants will go on sale in South Korea before it is made available in the rest of the world.
