Xiaomi launched its Android One based Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite smartphones this summer. Now, a new report claims that the company is already working on its next Android One smartphone. Based on the current terminology, the new handset will reportedly come as the Xiaomi Mi A3.
According to the report from XDA Developers, an unknown Xiaomi device codename orchid_sprout has been spotted while digging through the latest Android Pie-based MIUI 10 firmware on the Mi 8 and Mi Mix 3 flagships.
For starters, the suffix “sprout” virtually describes all Android One devices. The previous Xiaomi phones under the Android One programme followed a similar vocabulary for their codes.
The codename for Mi A1 was tissot_sprout while the Mi A2 and Mi A2 lite were denoted by jasmine_sprout and daisy_sprout, respectively. Hence, there is a strong possibility of this device to be the upcoming Xiaomi Mi A3.
There isn’t anything known about the device except for the fact that it will support an NFC chip from NXP. Following the latest design trends, we might see a glass back alongside water-drop notch with the Mi A3.
Lately, Xiaomi smartphones under Google’s Android One programme have received a great response in the market. It is mainly because people prefer a cleaner and bloat-free vanilla Android experience over the company’s MIUI skin.
That being said, it’ll be safe to expect tons of features at an aggressive price, just like the recently unveiled Mi A2. Stay tuned for more updates.
