Samsung Z2 first impressions

Samsung has launched the first 4G enabled Tizen-based smartphone, Samsung Z2. According to Samsung, the Z2 smartphone caters to the requirements of new smartphone users who are making a transition from a feature phone. Samsung Z2 comes with free 4G Reliance Jio Preview offer, Ultra Data Saving mode, S bike mode including the new My Money Transfer. Moreover, you will get free access to My Jio, Jio on Demand, Jio Beats during the Jio Preview offer.

Commenting on the launch, Manu Sharma, Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India Electronics revealed that Samsung Z2 provides easy access to 4G relevant to the unique needs of feature phone users. Moreover, the device will be suitable for first-time users and senior citizens, who require all the features of a smartphone. The device will offer consumers a fast and affordable mobile internet experience that will revolutionize the 4G usage in the country.

Samsung Z2 Performance

Samsung Z2 features a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display. The device will be suitable for those users who would like to put their smartphones into their pockets easily. Samsung Z2 offers a 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. The device will be suitable for beginners who require a smartphone type product to make calls and moderately watch videos.

Equipped with 8GB of internal storage, the Samsung Z2 can be expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The smartphone also provide support for OTG.

Samsung Z2 Camera and Battery

Samsung Z2 feature a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash paired with a 0.3-megapixel VGA front-facing snapper. Although you will be able to capture average quality pictures using the rear camera, the front camera will not be sufficient for capturing accurate selfies.

Powered by a 1500mAh battery, the Samsung Z2 has the ability to deliver up to 8 hours of 4G browsing. The battery will be sufficient for calling purposes.

Samsung Z2 Operating Platform

Samsung Z2 is loaded with Tizen OS v2.4. You will not be able to install Android apps from Google Play Store. However, the phone ships with Smart Tutor app with a personal assistant. According to Samsung, the latest release of Tizen OS helps you to unlock phones using gesture unlock.

It is possible to swipe upwards to switch between apps. It is possible to pin up to apps that stay on the screen even as they scroll through their list of apps. The unique Ultra Data Saving Mode enables you to save 40 percent data. Moreover, the Samsung Z2 also provides support for S bike mode.

Samsung Z2 4G Support

Samsung Z2 has been manufactured from scratch by its R&D team in Bengaluru. Samsung claims that Z2 is the first 4G LTE smartphone that runs Tizen OS. The device comes with support for LTE Cat.4 with downloads up to 150Mbps, and uploads up to 50Mbps. Moreover, the device also features VoLTE support and HD voice calling.

Samsung Z2 Pricing and Availability

Samsung Z2 is priced at Rs. 4590, which is less when compared to other competing devices. The new smartphone will be available in Black, Wine Red, and Gold color variants from August 29 exclusively via Paytm. The device will also be available via Samsung’s offline retail stores.
