The safe model of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 bearing a black square symbol owned by Brian Green has exploded inside Louisville flight. According to reports, the flight was full of passengers when the incident reportedly took place.
Responding to a leading tech news portal, Green said that he purchased the Galaxy Note 7 from AT&T on September 21. Hence, it could be a safe phone. Samsung had clarified that all Note 7 handsets sold are safe if it bears a black square on the product packaging.

Moreover, the passenger also emailed an image of the original packaging to the tech news editor. The box clearly shows a black square that Samsung has newly added to all replaced handsets. If the box contains black square, then it indicates that the phone is a safe model.
Green revealed that he powered the phone down and placed the handset in his pocket during boarding into the plane. However, the phone began to deliver a “thick grey-green angry smoke”. He reached swiftly and dropped the phone to the floor. After a short while, the Note 7 handset burned through the carpet of the plane.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was charged 80 percent when it exploded
When the incident occurred, the phone was 80 percent charged. However, it was not being charged since the phone was in his pocket. Furthermore, Green added that he has been using wireless charging feature ever since he purchased it. He hasn’t connected the Galaxy Note 7 to AC power via USB Type-C port.
IMEI test confirms Samsung Galaxy Note 7 as safe
Meanwhile, the tech portal conducted an IMEI test through Samsung’s recall checker. They found that the phone which exploded was found to be under Green category, which means the handset will not pose any risk. However, with the recent incident customers who have access to Samsung Galaxy Note 7 are really worried about the future of their handsets.
Since the relevant Galaxy Note 7 was tagged under the “safe” belt, the second recall for Samsung seems imminent. According to industry analysts, the recent incident is a major disaster for Samsung in financial terms. Moreover, the relationship between the company and customers has reached all-time low with angry customers accusing the company of manufacturing a phone with inferior materials.
Meanwhile, the customer in question is planning to ship the phone to Samsung and the company issued the following statement:
Until we are able to retrieve the device, we cannot confirm that this incident involves the new Galaxy Note 7. We are working with the authorities and Southwest now to recover the device and confirm the cause. Once we have examined the device we will have more
information to share.
Currently, the exploded Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is under the custody of Louisville Fire Department’s arson unit. Moreover, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has also announced that they will be conducting an investigation into the explosion incident.
Previously, a Galaxy Note 7 phone owned by a user in China exploded apparently exploded causing serious damage to his costly MacBook. Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter and posted the tweet that he is unable to charge the handset beyond 60 percent. This has created a huge embarrassment for the company.
