The new Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 has recently been spotted to GFXBench, with the natural outcome of the development being that we now have a fairly good idea of what this year’s edition of the device will have on offer.
Details available at the moment point to the Galaxy A8 being of considerably lesser proportions than its predecessor. The handset features a 5.1-inch display packing in 1920 x 1080 pixels, the same as last year’s version. However, with the lesser display area to spread out to, this naturally will translate to a more lively display.

Further, it’s going to be a 3 GB RAM rendering service in the 2016 model year A8, up from the 2 gigs from last year’s model. Further, the processor too has seen a bump to Exynos 7 Octa clocked at 2.1 GHz while graphics would be taken care of by an octa-core ARM Mali-T760 MP8 chip.
As for storage, there is going to be 32 GB of it with about 25 GB available to the user. Support for microSD card to further expand on that is almost a certainty, as it has been on the 2015 model A8.
So far as the imaging capabilities of the forthcoming device, a 15MP camera at the rear finds mentions, as does a 4.7 MP cam on the front for selfies or video chats. Then, of course, both the cams will get the support of a host of software to further enhance the photos. Also, it would be Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 that would be running the entire show, possibly with support for Android Nougat coming in at a later time.
Meanwhile, there is no word on the size of the battery that would power the new A8. However, given that last year’s A8 came with a 3,050mAh unit, the chances are that the new 2016 A8 would have a similar setup here, if not better. In any case, the benefits would be bigger this time considering that the screen size has gone down even though pixel count remains the same.
Another aspect that has been curiously missing from the 2016 A8 specifications so far is just how slim it would be. At 5.7mm, the 2015 A8 had been the slimmest in Samsung’s smartphone inventory, and it remains to be seen if the new A8 live up to that or builds on it further.
