Samsung Galaxy A8 Android Marshmallow OTA update rolls out in India

Samsung today finally started rolling out the awaited Android Marshmallow update for the users of Galaxy A8. As of now, the update is rolling out the Galaxy A8 users in India, and the build number of the update is MMB29K.A800FXXU1BPF5.

If you are using a Samsung Galaxy A8 and you are currently in India, you will be receiving a notification regarding the OTA update soon. The OTA update is carrying a size of around 1.1GB, which shows that it is a major update which needs to be installed while the phone is connected to an electronic charger.

However, if the notification for update does not show up automatically, you can manually check for update on your phone:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Scroll Down to System and then choose ‘About Device’.
  3. Tap download updated manually.
  4. Select OK and then tap on Start.
  5. A restart message will appear and again tap OK.

If you are planning to update the device as soon as possible, try to ensure that you are connected to a strong Wi-Fi network because considering the size of the update, using the cellular network for downloading won’t be a good idea.

Some users might have to wait for a few days as it takes some time for the update to be available for all the devices. But since the update has reached the Indian users, within a few days, it will be available for users from different regions as well.

Once updated, the user will be able to observe new ‘Marshmallow’ features like “Doze” battery life enhancement, Google Now on Tap, revision in app permissions and more. The update also brings along some minor tweaks incorporated by Samsung; a refreshed ‘Touch Wiz UI’, revisions in the fingerprint scanning, advanced power saving mode, and new vibration schemes.

Note: Decrypt device function will not be supported post the update installation.
