Porsche Macan Turbo makes its way into India: Price and features

German automobile giant Porsche has just unveiled its beefed up Macan- the Macan Turbo, in India, at an on-road price of Rs. 1.4 crore. The Turbo gets a power boost from the previous one with a V6 twin-turbo engine with 440PS.

Clocked at 600 Nm torque (9 percent more than the Macan), the Macan Turbo heaves from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds, promising another 172 kmph if the accelerator isn’t let gone. The performance packing is evidently increased with a lowered suspension, upgraded brakes, and Sports Chrono package. Although the shifts are never an issue with Porsche renderings, this one has one of the best ever seen- quick and smooth.

The Active Suspension Management System drops the suspension to increase handling at higher speeds. For all customisation purposes, a wide range of equipment options have been made available: 21-inch wheels sporting a 911 turbo design, LED main headlights equipped with PDLS Plus.

The standard features include ParkAssist, 18-inch alloy wheels, lane departure warning, heated front seats, three-zone climate control, rear airbags, garage door opener, Alcantara leather seats, and retractable outside mirrors. The Audi-powered 20-litre twin turbo engine with 252hp and 273 lb/ft of torque is the main difference from the predecessor.

As far as the interiors are concerned, the array of trendy digital displays adds to the appeal. The instrument panel is somewhat of a classic Porsche with the ignition to the left of the steering wheel. The largest of the three main gauges the tach.

India is not a huge market for high-end cars, especially SUVs but the likes of Maybach, P1 and 918 have done okayish here. The Turbo appears to be quite the upgrade from the Macan. With improvements mostly in the engine and performance, the on-road rollout is much awaited. How it does compare to its counterparts in the same price brackets is for the first set of market data to tell.
