MIUI 8 Global beta ROM now available in India, Here’s how to install it

As promised during the Mi Max launch event on June 30, Xiaomi has released the MIUI 8 global developer ROM on July 11. The beta release of MIUI 8 is now available as OTA update for Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Mi Max 32GB and Mi 4i. You will find both fastboot and recovery release files on the official Mi Community India forum.

Xiaomi has revealed that the MIUI 8 global beta ROM for Mi 2/2S, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 5, Mi Note, Redmi 1S, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3 devices will be available in the upcoming days. Hence, if you have any one of these devices, you need to wait till Xiaomi provided you with an update. You should note that incorrect installation of updates meant for other devices will provide fatal for your valuable smartphone.

Based on customer feedback, Xiaomi will launch the stable version of the MIUI 8 Global ROM on August 16. Since the currently available release is in beta mode, the company has warned users that there will be minor bugs and errors.

If your device is on developer ROM then you will automatically get OTA update notifications. You can also manually check for the existence of an update by tapping Tools | Updater option. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has provided relevant guides to help you to install MIUI 8 on a device with stable or China ROM. If you are planning to make use of fast boot ROM for the installation of MIUI 8, you have to unlock the device by following the instructions on the guide.

Some of the new features included with MIUI 8 beta release are a revamped design, second space, dual app support, scrolling screenshots, new calculator app, new templates for Notes, redesigned gallery, and smart menu for editing content in addition to quick ball, which displays a hovering button on the screen with shortcuts.

The MIUI 8 beta release offers app lock, using which you can unlock all apps quickly and the ability to delete second space while in first space. Moreover, the saved and available Wi-Fi networks appear first in the list including the delivery of a clickable notification through which the relevant user can restore restricted permissions.

If you install MIUI 8, you will notice that the loading speed after the first reboot will be significantly improved after the OTA update. Xiaomi has added several improvements and bug fixes for lock screen, status bar, notification bar, settings, file explorer and quick ball.
