iVOOMi Me 3S Initial Impressions

iVOOMi Me 3s

iVOOMi is a Chinese brand came recently to the Indian market and making its place in entry level smartphone market. iVOOMi Me 3S is the latest offering from this brand after Me 4 and Me5 both of which are also entry level smartphones. Me 3S is a lot different from Me 4 and Me 5 in every aspect, let’s see how? This is our first impressions about the smartphone as we got our hands on iVOOMi Me 3S.

The smartphone is all made of plastic casing with removable back cover and full black front panel. The navigation keys are below the display and are capacitive hardware keys to navigate through the smartphone. The back panel is removable which reveals the dual mini SIM card slots with dedicated microSD card slot. It also shows the massive 3000 mAh battery which is also removable and replaceable.

The front panel has the HD display with full black bezels all around. Above the screen is the earpiece and the front facing camera and below the display is the three touch reactive navigation keys. There is no extra black border around the display which I like the most because most of the Chinese brands are adding black borders around the screen to give users a minimal bezel design.

Coming to edges, the top edge has the 3.5 mm audio port, and the right side has the power button and volume rocker buttons. The power button got a nice texture to remove the confusion of accidentally pressing the wrong button some times. The back panel has a 13MP shooter with LED flash, and the front facing camera is an 8 MP shooter with no flash at all.

The iVOOMi Me 3S comes with a quad core MediaTek processor; MT6735, which is clocked at a frequency of 1.25 GHz. The processor is paired with a Mali-T720 GPU and 3GB RAM for smooth multitasking and gaming experience. The internal storage is 32GB, the storage can be extended using a microSD card slot, and it supports microSD cards up to 128GB.

iVOOMi Me 3S runs on Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box with almost stock experience and interface. The icon shape and colors are a little changed, and iVOOMi added some features and tweaks which are quite useful for users. There is a small floating ball on the screen which is quite similar to iOS assistive touch in usage and behavior; it also got the navigation keys.

There are much more customized features from iVOOMi are; the MiraVIsion display to keep your eyes safe, DuraSpeed is a feature to boost the app on the top right now by shutting down the background processes. There is also an Emergency rescue function which calls to any emergency number without unlocking the device, quickly press the power button thrice.

The camera is not at all impressive, the 13MP rear camera captures some mediocre pictures which lacks detail, and the pixels seem to be smoothened. The front facing selfie camera is also a decent shooter, nothing much fancy or appealing. The camera app user interface is a very outdated design from the Android 2.3 Gingerbread and includes three modes only; normal mode, beauty mode and panorama mode.

All the features work as they should be and there is no lag in the camera user interface. Although there is some lag experienced in the user interface, some apps also crashed while working on them. iVOOMi Me 3S comes with a good 3000 mAh battery, and it claimed to provide very long standby and talk time. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 6,499 which seems to be a bit higher for the material which iVOOMi Me 3S is proving to the users.
