Huawei is out for a bite of the budget smartphone segment in India with its new Honor 9 Lite. And from what seems evident, current segment leader Xiaomi has a lot to worry about.
In fact, there is a lot going for the Honor 9 Lite, which includes the looks, features as well as the price. Lookswise, the first thing that gets you stomped is the phone’s sleek lines. The brilliant 5.65-inch 18:9 display extends edge-to-edge with the top and bottom bezels being just the bare minimum. The 1080p resolution ensures you have life-like images with 428 pixels lighting up every square inch.
The rear is made of glass which can be considered a novelty in the budget segment where it is either metal or plastic clad phones that rule the roost. The effect is stunning too, with the shining surface interrupted by only the twin rear cam complex at the top left corner, fingerprint sensor along the top-center and the Honor badging down below. Curved metal in a brushed finish makes up the sides.
Powering the device is a 2.36GHz Kirin 659 octa-core processor working in tandem with either a 3 or 4 GB memory. The version with 3 GB of RA comes with 32 GB of storage while the 4 GB RAM model offers 64 GB storage. For both versions, storage can be expanded to a class leading 256 GB. A 3,000mAh battery is common on all variants as isĀ Android 8.0 Oreo with Honor’s EMUI running on top.
Another huge plus with the Honor 9 Lite is its quad camera setup, with both the front and rear making do with a 13 and 2 megapixel camera pair. Huawei said the front cam comes with several in-built settings such as panorama selfie, gesture control shoots and so on.
Similarly, the rear cams boast of PDAF support to ensure your shots have the least distortions or blurring effects. Further, the 13- and 2 megapixel camera pair ensures you get the much vaulted bokeh effect as well.
The Honor 9 Lite will also come with several exciting color options. Those include Sapphire Blue, Glacier Grey and Midnight Black. However, it is only the Sapphire Blue and Glacier Grey that has a mirror-like finish for the rear while the Midnight Black offers a matte-finish.
Saving the best for the last, the base Honor 9 Lite with 3 gigs of memory has been priced very competitively at INR. 10,999 while the one with 4 GB RAM onboard is priced INR. 14,999. Both versions are available exclusively from Flipkart in India. The phone will be on sales from Jan. 21 to 23 and will commence at midnight on the respective dates.
