Ford India has officially announced price drops for select variants of its Aspire Sedan and the Figo hatchback by up to Rs. 91,000. The company is a looking forward to an increase in sales and gain more popularity in the Indian market with these price drop. From now onwards, the company’s compact sedan, the Ford Aspire, will be available in the range of Rs.5.28 lakh and Rs. 6.8 lakh for the 1.2-litre petrol variant. Depending on the variant, price drops vary in the range of Rs 25,000 to Rs. 91,000.

Similarly, the diesel variant of the Ford Aspire also gets a price cut in the range of Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 91,000 and will now be available between Rs. 6.37 lakh and Rs. 7.89 lakh. According to Ford, these revised prices will be applicable with immediate effect.

While the company’s popular hatchback, the Ford Figo, sees a price cut ranging between Rs. 29,000 to Rs. 30,000 for its top end versions. It will now be available in the range of Rs.4.54 lakh to Rs. 6.29 lakh under the revised prices. The diesel variant of the Figo hatchback featuring a 1.5-liter engine will now be available in the range of Rs. 5.63 lakh to Rs. 7.18 lakh while its top-of-the-line variants see a price cut of Rs. 50,000.

“With the realignment of prices, Figo and Aspire are even more compelling for customers. The realignment also enhances the accessibility of these outstanding products, which offer segment-first safety features and class-leading technologies,” said Anurag Mehrotra, Ford India executive director.

Back in March, Ford India announced price drops of EcoSport by up to Rs. 1.12 lakh, just two days after Maruti Suzuki launched its compact SUV Vitara Brezza in India starting at Rs.6.99 lakh. The company recently also launched its iconic muscle car ‘Mustang’ in India and announced India’s largest ever brand make-over campaign worth Rs. 204 crores.

Surprisingly, Ford India’s decision to reduce prices comes at a time when Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai India have increased prices across all their models, citing a rise in production costs because of declining rupee value. Hyundai announced that all of their cars ranging from the entry-level Eon to their top-of-the-line flagship would get costlier by Rs 3,000 to Rs. 20,000.

While Maruti Suzuki also announced price hikes across all its models in the range of Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 20,000. This makes it the fourth price increase by Maruti in the past 12 months While Hyundai also announced price hikes of up to Rs. 30,000 back in January this year.
