Battery issue leads to LYF smartphone explosion, Reliance ensures investigation

In another explosion incident, Reliance LYF phone exploded and reportedly burst into flames on November 6. The owner of the smartphone posted pictures of the burnt phone on Twitter saying that his family had a narrow escape. He later tweeted that the Reliance LYF phone users need to be cautious and careful.

The pictures clearly show the Reliance LYF branding at the back of the burnt smartphone. The other pictures show the puffed up battery, which could be the reason for the explosion. Fortunately, no one got hurt from the explosion.

Reliance noticed the incident and responded, “Sorry for the inconvenience caused… As discussed we are investigating on this.” In a statement given to Economic Times, the company said that they are concerned about the incident reported on social media and are taking the matter seriously.

It further stated, “We are assessing the cause and will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Customer safety is paramount to us and, based on our findings, we will take appropriate action.” Meanwhile, the owner hadn’t mentioned if the incident occurred when the phone was on charge.
